The President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Ricardo Lorenzetti, participated on the 4th of September, 2017, in the Second Inter-American Congress on the State of Environmental Law, which is held until September the 6th at the Palace of the Court of Justice of Santiago, Chile, organized by the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS).
Also, there were other important figures who participated in the event: The President of the Supreme Court of Chile, Hugo Dolmestch Urra; the minister of that same court Sergio Muñoz; the Minister of the Superior Court of Justice of Brazil Antonio Benjamin; the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama, José Eduardo Ayú Prado Canals; the judge of the National Court of Justice of Ecuador Pablo Joaquín Tinajero Delgado, and the OAS secretary general, Luis Almagro.
Lorenzetti was invited in his role of head of the Supreme Court of Justice of Argentina, ambassador of Good Will of the OAS for Environmental Justice and member of the Commission of Environmental Justice of the Ibero-American Judicial Summit.
Lorenzetti’s intervention was at the high-level session in which the Ambassadors of Environmental Justice of the OAS and members of the Council of Environmental Justice of UN Environment and representatives of different public powers of the State discussed the challenges, opportunities, trends and the future of the environmental rule of law in the Americas.
Previously, also in Santiago, Lorenzetti participated in the meeting of the Commission of Environmental Justice of the Ibero-American Judicial Summit, which took place at the Agreement Room of the Court of Chile.
Meanwhile, Lorenzetti presented his book “The art of doing justice” at the Central University of Chile and gave a master class, an activity that will take place in the Red Room of the Gonzalo Hernández Uribe Campus, and in which the president of the Supreme Court of Chile, Hugo Dolmestch Urra, university authorities, among them, its rector, Santiago González Larraín, and members of the Board of Directors will participate.
