The president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Ricardo Lorenzetti, participated in the Vatican City in the “First America Encounter in Dialogue – Our Common House”, which was held this Wednesday and Thursday, organized by the OAS and the Institute for Interreligious Dialogue.<\/p>\n

Lorenzetti made a keynote presentation at the session “Laudato S\u00ed: The challenges of our common home”, where he spoke on the following topics: judicial decisions illustrating the planetary crisis, its consequences and trends in the Americas: the water crisis and biodiversity .<\/p>\n

11:15 a.m. – 12:00 m. Laudato S\u00ed: The challenges of our common home: Keynote Presentation by Minister Ricardo Lorenzetti, President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Argentine Nation.<\/p>\n

Introduction and coordination: S.E. Rogelio Pfirter, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to the Holy See.<\/p>\n

A reflection on what is happening in our common home, its consequences and emerging trends in the Americas. On the basis of illustrative judicial decisions, planetary inequality and the impact of the crisis on the human and natural environment will also be discussed. This keynote presentation will lay the foundation for dialogue on experiences, approaches and responses, including those of the judicial powers of the Americas in relation to the care of the common home.<\/p>\n

The Master presentation to the dialogue will be in charge of Dra. Lorena Herrera, Vice President of the Republic of Honduras.<\/p>\n

-Ana Mar\u00eda Bidegain, Professor of Religious Studies, Florida International University: Nature, Women and intercultural and interreligious dialogue.<\/p>\n

-I KNOW. Elisa Ruiz Diaz, Ambassador, Representative of Paraguay to the OAS: Experience of the American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.<\/p>\n

This plenary session will make contributions towards the establishment of an inter-American network of intercultural and interreligious dialogue for the care of the common home.<\/p>\n

4:00 p.m. – 5:00 pm. Laudato S\u00ed: Approaches and Answers, consolidating the dialogue between the Judicial Powers of the Americas.<\/p>\n

Facilitator: S.E. Mariano Fern\u00e1ndez Amun\u00e1tegui, Ambassador of Chile to the Holy See.<\/p>\n

Minister Alfredo Guti\u00e9rrez Ort\u00edz Mena, President of the First Chamber, Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico: Answers from the Judiciary to current problems: the human and social dimension of the approach given to ecology in Laudato S\u00ed.<\/p>\n

Minister Sergio Mu\u00f1oz- President, Constitutional Chamber, Supreme Court of Justice of Chile: Laudato S\u00ed: Fundamental and Emerging Principles, Action Protocol on Access Rights and the Environment.<\/p>\n

Possible responses from the judiciary to the current problems of humanity will be discussed in this session, within the framework of the OAS initiative on the Common House. The Ministers will make a thematic introduction of 5-8 minutes each and afterwards will conduct a discussion based on directed questions.<\/p>\n
